Paul Hobbs is one of California's iconic wine producers. Although he now has projects in Argentina, France, and elsewhere, his California Chardonnay bottlings remain his most recognizable. The single-vineyard releases from the famous Ritchie and Richard Dinner vineyards fetch $80-100 per bottle, while his entry-level Crossbarn Chardonnay is a very affordable introduction to these wines. Having tasted dozens of similarly priced Chardonnays over the past few months, I have to say I think this is the best of the bunch. Serve cool to cold. 100% Chardonnay.
