Well I think I finally found the perfect Thanksgiving wine. It's a little "off-piste" but the wine is undeniable.
The appellation of Bugey-Cerdon is located up in the foothills of the Alps, where grapes like Gamay (think Beaujolais) and Poulsard are king. The wines are alpine, ethereal, and very silky. Whether it's a red wine or a sparkler like this, think soft red berry fruit and a refreshing acidity.
This sparkling version is incredibly light on its feet. It would work with any food on the Thanksgiving table, or as a really great way to welcome friends and family. It's also low in alcohol, which can be helpful on a day with so much food and drink.
I think this is a find. Note that it is a very pale rose in color.
95% Gamay, 5% Poulsard. Serve very cold.
