My old friend. I've probably learned more about how wines age from this estate than any other. There are pricier Châteauneufs on the market but very few that can match this one for reliability. I have most vintages of this wine in our cellar back to 1990 and they are still singing. LVD was founded and is still run by the Michel family. Current winemaker Claire Michel Fabre also trained at Harlan Estate and is turning out wines that are as good or better than anything her father, Lucien, made. I could go on forever, but keep in mind that while most estates set aside their oldest vines and best plots for super-expensive special bottlings.... the Michels make just one red wine. And they have some of the best vines in Châteauneuf-du-Pape.
