Crozes-Hermitage is sort of like the "country cousin" of the uber-famous wines made on the hill of Hermitage nearby ($100-1,000 per bottle). At one time these wines were somewhat rustic, but not anymore. Worldwide interest, capital investment, and the fact that so many influential somms love the Northern Rhone have all contributed to an incredible surge in quality.
The Veyrat Crozes is all about finesse, with notes of flowers and minerals on the nose and ripe fruit on the palate.
This is very, very graceful. Try with filet mignon. Absolutely ideal for a dinner party with close friends.
