Today is Friday. I tasted this yesterday and bought the entire supply for Virginia. One case somehow made it to another retailer and I'm sad that even one escaped my grasp.
This is a blend of Gamay (think Beaujolais) and Pineau d'Aunis (obscure but was once a favorite of the French kings). But what makes this wine so special is that it tastes like the love child of Cru Beaujolais and the Rhone's legendary Chateau Rayas. It smells like rose petals and wild strawberries. It tastes like red cherry and minerals. Teasing out individual tasting notes seems unnecessary for a wine that is this beautiful.
If you don't like this we can't be friends. 50% Gamay, 50% Pineau d'Aunis. Serve cool somewhere quiet.
