Delicious French Pinot Noir can be hard to find outside of Burgundy, where prices have skyrocketed due to small harvests and enormous interest. But I am always on the lookout for a good one.
This Pinot from the Lorraine region near Alsace is beguiling. Smoke, minerals, cherries, and cranberry all chime in. This bears little resemblance to a Pinot Noir from California. This is a wine with intellectual appeal that would be superb with dishes like salmon or anything with pan-roasted mushrooms.
100% Pinot Noir. Serve cool.
