Rioja is the most historic winegrowing region in Spain. Many other regions have grown in quality and reputation over the last twenty years, but Rioja has attracted an international audience for centuries.
This has everything you'd want to see in a Spanish red. 100+ year old vines. Traditional grapes. The 50% new oak aging is barely noticeable. Lots of red and black fruit, vanilla, and spice.
Too many Spanish reds are over-oaked and taste tired. This one is practically brimming with energy. This is flat-out delicious. 50% Tempranillo, 20% Garnacha, 10% Graciano, 10% Mazuelo, 5% each Bobal and Monastrell. Serve cool.
