
I know about as much about the Gaglioppo grape as the next guy, which is to say almost nothing. But I do know the excellent cuisine from the Calabria region, and of course its most famous export- Calabrian chili oil. A mere drop on fresh farmers cheese or mixed with grilled shrimp is hard to beat.
Flavor profile-wise, this has notes of almond, apricot, and soft red fruits. It's very light on its feet and quite refreshing. If you're in need of a brief break from Provencal rose this would be a good choice. It's also a very nice value.
